Feinstein to Obama; Require GMO labeling via FDA

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) is urging Obama to use the power of his office to require GMO labeling.

“Your administration should re-evaluate the Food and Drug Administration’s outdated policy that genetically engineered food does not need to disclose this fact on required labels,” the California Democrat wrote Friday in a letter to Obama.

Look to the Sky

I am posting this because it has been on my mind a lot-- I used to poo-poo this theory. But I ask you to keep an open mind and just begin looking at the world around you and take notice.

If you have a local library, take your camera in and visit sections of the Library that have books on clouds. Take photos-- If the powers that be can change history about cloud formation, they can start rewriting history on GMO/GE foods and anything else they can--- Look for old science books at yardsales, thrift stores etc.. hold on to them, they are evidence that something MAJOR is going on.

In a bold move to protect over 20,ooo varieties of corn species; a Mexican judge has ruled in to preserve Mexico's indigenous corn. Some one give this Judge a hand. -- GMO Free Low Country

from : Eco Watch
Mexican Judge Jaime Eduardo Verdugo J. of the Twelfth Federal District Court for Civil Matters of Mexico City wrote that the genetically engineered corn posed ”the risk of imminent harm to the environment.”

He also ordered Mexico’s Secretary of Agriculture and SEMARNAT (Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales), the equivalent to the U.S. EPA, to immediately “suspend all activities involving the planting of transgenic corn in the country and end the granting of permission for experimental and pilot commercial plantings.”

The ruling means Monsanto and other biotech companies will be required to halt all activities in the country, giving collective action lawsuits initiated by citizens, farmers, scientists and other concerned parties a chance to work their way through the judicial system.

According to a local press release, Acción Colectiva [Collective Action] aims to achieve absolute federal declaration of the suspension of the introduction of transgenic maize in all its various forms, including experimental and pilot commercial plantings, in Mexico, “which is the birthplace of corn in the world.”
The ruling provides at least temporary protection for the 20,000 varieties of corn grown in Mexico and Central America.

Bad Ass Little Island

The world watches and waits to see if the chemical companies that have promised to sue the island of Kaua'i for passing Bill 2491 carry out their promise. They hate transparency related to their pesticide usage as much as they hate truth in labeling their GMOs. Kaua'i: The little island that could. You lead the nation. You inspire us.

Right to Know Act

 Tell Congress to Support the
Genetically Engineered Food Right-to-Know Act

This spring, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR) introduced the Genetically Engineered Food Right-to-Know Act, bipartisan legislation that would require the FDA to label all genetically modified foods.

“Americans have the right to know what is in the food they eat so they can make the best choices for their families,” Senator Boxer said. “This legislation is supported by a broad coalition of consumer groups, businesses, farmers, fishermen and parents who all agree that consumers deserve more – not less – information about the food they buy.”

How is GMO/GE Corn Made?

Have you ever wondered how GMO corn is made?

Roundup Ready Corn is genetically engineered corn that has had its DNA modified to withstand the herbicide glyphosate (the active ingredient in Monsanto's herbicide Roundup). It is also known as "glyphosate tolerant corn." Roundup Ready corn was first deregulated in the U.S. in 1997 and first commercialized in the U.S. in 1998. One variety of RR Corn, NK603, was linked to tumors in rats in the Seralini study last year.

80% of Processed Food is GMO

Reprinted from Natural News
(NaturalNews) According to the new book Rich Food, Poor Food, ingredients commonly found in up to 80 percent of all pre-packaged foods on grocers shelves in the U.S. have been banned in other countries. As alarming as such information is, our food safety outlook becomes even bleaker when we consider other banned and toxic food items.

The toxic banned ingredients in our food

In the book, authors Mira and Jason Calton provide a list of banned ingredients which they term "Banned Bad Boys" as well as the countries which have banned them. Among the items is Olestra - commonly used in low/no-fat snack foods and known to cause serious gastrointestinal issues - which has been banned in the United Kingdom and Canada.

Nestle says GMOs are safe; no illness from GMO

Nestle CEO says Organic is Not Best, GMOs are Safe

Reposted  from The State Weekly
Nesquik
by Ali Papademetriou

Peter Brabeck, Chief Executive Officer of the world’s largest food company, Nestle Corporation, is shown in a video explaining some topics that are not only odd but also a bit disturbing, especially coming from a business that claims to be “the world’s leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness company”.
In the video, Brabeck tells viewers that mankind’s belief that anything from nature is a good thing is a great misconception today. He detailed that in today’s day and age, we as humans are able to ‘provide a balance’ to nature. Giving an example of how modern society believes nature is good, he says, “A good example is the organic movement…organic is now best” but contends that by saying, “But organic is not best.” Interestingly he does not give any explanations to back his assertion though.
